Comadrona/Healthy Start

For 20 years, Comadrona/Healthy Start has been a source of support and empowerment for pregnant women and their infants. The goal is to support a positive pregnancy and to promote maternal and infant health. The Center does a thorough psychosocial assessment of all participants. Follow-up meetings are completed in the home and office. Additional advocacy is provided when needed. Comadrona/Healthy Start also offers specialized services to pregnant and parenting teens; to the uninsured, immigrants and undocumented women. We help people stop smoking and provide car seats and infant safety classes. We also provide emergency food. The program works in partnership with clinical and human service providers throughout the Greater Hartford area.
