Food Safety Study
As a follow-up to FNP-IT’s previous research on food safety, the
Hispanic Health Council and the University of Connecticut are working
together to study food preparation practices among Puerto Rican families.
Methodologies include interviews, home food preparation observations
and microbiological testing of foods and kitchen surfaces before and
after meal preparation.
Exclusive
Breastfeeding Study
In accord with the World Health Organization recommendations on breastfeeding
the Hispanic Health Council and the University of Connecticut have initiated
a joint effort to study the effectiveness and cost effectiveness of the use of
peer counselors to promote and support exclusive breastfeeding for six months.
